'Vera Veil' is a vampire character who was created for a live action roleplay game about a community of vampires coming together. Here, I took her out of her usual setting and started playing with her during a local community event for entrepreneurs. You can watch the result by clicking on the video opposite. 

This character was very inspired by 'What we do in the shadows', a spoof comedy series and film about life as a vampire. 

What pleasantly surprised me about the experience was I got to act and behave in ways I wouldn't usually, when just playing a normal human. I got to see the world as a totally different character (a predator) and try and communicate her point of view. She was fearless and totally sure of herself. 

In the past I have hesitated a lot more when I'm doing a public speech, but as Vera Veil that didn't happen as much. For this reason, I believe playing a character can give us the chance to exercise the parts of ourselves we can't always access. For me, Vera Veil is definitely part of my 'shadow side'.
