"Daring to set boundaries is about having the courage to love ourselves, even when we risk disappointing others." - Brené Brown
In this workshop we explored:
- different kinds of intimacy, and discussed when they are appropriate in theater groups and shows. (We discovered huge differences of opinion here in our group, which showed us how easily misunderstandings can occur, with so many different expectations and ideas of what is acceptable, unacceptable).
- We introduced group baselines and individual boundaries.
- we roleplayed pre-play check-ins, check-outs and some different exit strategies for during shows, such as safe words and useful phrases to redirect play such as 'no but...'.
- We practiced how to use in-show check-ins to reconnect with your partner when the connection is off/ something seems amiss.
- we discussed some scenarios and the group suggested different strategies for how to transform disconnection and misunderstandings on stage.
A big thank you to Learn Bulgarian with Edno School for hosting us, for The Unusual International Academy for supporting us, for everyone who came today, and ofcourse for Luis David Cortes Guzman for inspiring and informing this workshop.
